From the Ground Brewery, Red Hook

While at a farmer’s market in Columbia County New York, we had the great pleasure of tasting some local craft beers of From The Ground Brewery. They are committed to using New York State grown ingredients. Most of their barley for the beer is grown onsite at Migliorelli Farm. My “Beer Chemistry” glasses were a gift, but one of the best gifts ever! Here is one of my favorites…

A Chelsea Market visit

Yesterday afternoon I ventured down to Chelsea Market located at 75 Ninth Avenue, in the Meatpacking district next to the Highline, NYC.

Chelsea Market is located in the old National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) factory of Oreo’s fame. The market recently opened a downstairs area “Chelsea Local,” and I hadn’t had the chance to check it out. It’s quite nice. Some of the stores from upstairs moved downstairs, like Buon Italia and Manhattan Fruit Exchange, to cleaner and more organized stores albeit about half the size of their prior store. Buon Italia also added a cappuccino/espresso bar. Some eateries also are downstairs. A new edition upstairs is Kikkerland, an eclectic gift shop that will satisfy any gifting taste. Looking for seasonings, nuts. candy, spices, food, vinegar, wine, beer, cookies, breads, seafood, homemade products, cheese, chocolates, dining, fast food, meat, soup, pizza, German food, taco’s, sushi, gelato…¬† farm fresh dairy, fruit, Vietnamese, thai, italian dining, need I go on? Look no further than chelsea market. It is one of the original indoor food courts in NYC.
